At CMR Associates, we assist clients daily with navigating interactions with the IRS and other tax agencies. A crucial part of our tax preparation, planning, and audit response process is effective information management. This involves ensuring that taxpayer records align with the information held by the IRS. Keeping your records in sync with the IRS can reduce your risk of an audit and, if an audit does occur, facilitate a timely resolution.
For more information and to authorize CMR Associates to interact with the IRS on your behalf, please click here and read/complete Form 2848.
Alternatively, you can complete the Power of Attorney process through your IRS.gov account. After creating your account, notify us via email at tax@cmrtax.com. We will initiate the online access request, and you’ll receive an email asking you to log back into your IRS.gov account to approve the request. Most requests are approved immediately, though some may take up to 48 hours.
As a reminder, all services are performed based on the terms of a signed agreement/engagement letter. Completing form 2848 helps CMR Associates more efficiently and effectively deliver our already agreed upon services. However, completing Form 2848 does not create a new engagement, transfer any additional responsibility to CMR Associates or create any obligation for CMR Associates to act or perform services outside of the scope of our signed engagement.
